Galleria dell'Accademia
Gallery owes its popularity to the presence of several sculptures by Michelangelo: the Prisoners, the St. Matthew and especially the famous David, moved here in 1873, for which was built the scenic gallery. In adjacent spaces, derived from two ancient monasteries, were collected from 1800 important works of art coming from'Accademia of Drawing, by the Academy of Fine Arts and convents. These are mostly paintings of religious subjects performed from the teachers working in Florence and its surroundings in the second half of the thirteenth century to the end of the sixteenth century. In particular, the collection of gold tables is unique in the world. In the halls of the first floor you can admire a magnificent collection of late Gothic polyptychs.
