Piazza Signoria con Palazzo Vecchio

Piazza della Signoria (Signoria Square) is one of the most important squares of the city, as home of the town hall (Palazzo Vecchio) and heart of social life in the city. The square hosts a huge number of masterpieces of sculpture in the Loggia dei Lanzi, including the Perseus of Benvenuto Cellini, the Rape of the Sabine women by Giambologna, the Hercules with the centaur Nessus by Giambologna ever and many others, from various historical periods. Other important sculptures in the square are those in front of Palazzo Vecchio, from which it is impossible not to mention the David of Michelangelo. In front of Palazzo Vecchio is the Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali, built in the late 800s, in Renaissance style and designed by Landi. The square is the natural entrance to Galleria degli Uffizi.
