Basilica of San Lorenzo is one of the oldest churches in the city, was consecrated even 1700 years ago. It was enlarged several times, before taking the current appearance (interior and exterior). Inside the Basilica there are many works of art, with authors like Donatello, Filippo Lippi, Pietro Annigoni and Desiderio da Settignano.
San Lorenzo Market is a famous market held daily in the square. The market is specialized in clothing, leather goods, gifts and souvenirs, and is one of several places in the city frequented by tourists. The market runs around the building containing the Central Market , built in the late 800s by Giuseppe Mengoni, who designed, inter alia, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan. The market includes the sale of fruit and vegetables, meat, fish and bakery products. P>
